West End House logo Carthage Theatre is returning to Ireland, developing a new play in conjunction with West End House School of Arts in Killarney.

Instructor Charlie Hughes from West End House visited Carthage in spring 2022 for a play development workshop, laying the foundation for this new play. The cast continued to develop the work, under the direction of Prof. Scharnick, for the remainder of the year. That play will premiere at Carthage in the fall before being mounted at the historic Smock Alley Theatre in Dublin in January.

Smock Alley Theatre logo While in Dublin, students will visit several historic and cultural sites, in addition to taking a week-long Irish theatre intensive at the Gaiety School of Acting, National Theatre School of Ireland. The students will then travel to Killarney where they will see the sights, engage with the students and teachers at West End House School of Arts, and remount the play.

This study tour is only open to theatre students and is now full.
