Better Together Interfaith Movement intends to promote diversity of all faiths, beliefs, religions, and spiritualities, both secular and non secular on campus. This is done through dialogue on coexistence and diversity, trying to educate students on all these different faiths. Through this dialouge, we hope to combat inequalities of all kinds. Doing service work with individuals that have different beliefs than you is something we value in order to promote cooperation of all walks of life. Through common good projects, and dialogue, this clubs aims at bettering the Carthage community and the Kenosha community, with a focus in interfaith work.
Biweekly at 5 p.m. in the Chapel.
What are some of your org's major events and activities?
There is a weekly interfaith lunch on campus which helps our club’s foundation of learning about other religions. Every Thursday there is a guest speaker that presents on a religion and brings new light to a faith that might have been unknown or misrepresented to some. Along with that, our club takes trips off campus to different religious sites and places of worship within the area so we can experience other religious practices. We also partake in service events. We have done soup kitchens, feed my starving children, and other local service work. We bring guest speakers to campus and also have a Better Together Day every year which includes a dinner. Other activities involve collaborating with other faith orgs on campus to promote diversity of secular or non-secular beliefs on campus and unify them through either service work or fun events.
Why should people join this organization?
Religious intolerance and stereotyping is becoming an increasing problem in today’s world. There are wars over religion, there’s terror being spread worldwide because of religious intolerance, and there is a separation among mankind due to ignorance of these belief systems. People should join this club in order to take a step forward towards a world that accepts all faiths and beliefs. This club informs people of these religions and works towards building a community that perpetuates tolerance and acceptance. Let’s work together to make this world a better, more loving place!
Who can join?
Anyone who is passionate about uniting all faith and belief systems and overcoming prejudice, stereotypes, and stigmas of religions that people aren’t informed on. If you like to learn about religions, and do service work, this club and community is for you!
