Having earned a B.B.A. in marketing at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, Tom’s first professional position was as an Associate District Executive with the Boy Scouts of America in Milwaukee. His career interests changed, so he enrolled at Michigan State University to earn a master’s degree in College Administration. This additional degree gave Tom the opportunity to work for Purdue University, UW-Milwaukee, and Carroll University in various student service and student affairs roles before he started working at Carthage.
As Coordinator of Adult Undergraduate Admissions, Tom primarily assists with enrolling adult students seeking a bachelor’s degree in the areas of accounting, management, marketing, and criminal justice, along with getting others started in any of the other 50 Carthage majors, especially those interested in the social work program.
Additionally, Tom provides administrative assistance for non-degree-seeking students wishing to take individual courses, go on overseas trips, or seek a certificate in paralegal studies.
Favorite thing about working at Carthage
“The camaraderie of fellow staff members, knowing that I am likely changing a life when admitting a student, and those delicious oatmeal raisin cookies.”
Tom’s multiple and wide-ranging interests include playing basketball, recumbent bicycling, downhill skiing, and visiting Door County during the summer.
