Biography

Gabriela Reid is originally from North Chicago, Illinois, where she lived with her parents and younger brother. She attended an all-girls high school in Lake Forest, Ill., named Woodlands Academy of the Sacred Heart, where she played varsity softball all four years of high school. She then went on to study biology and communication in college.

Since completing her bachelor’s degree at Lake Forest College, Gabriela has been working on her master’s degree at DePaul University. She is a second-year MBA candidate at Kellstadt Graduate School of Business.

Before her career at Carthage, Gabriela gained a variety of professional work experience ranging from higher education, insurance, technology, and sales. She worked at an augmented reality tech startup in downtown Chicago serving as the company’s sales coordinator. She also served as a client relationship specialist for a life insurance company in Palatine, Ill. Her passions include innovation, leadership, coaching, talent development, and networking. Gabriela has strong administrative experience with higher education institutions, both at four-year graduate level schools and two-year colleges. She is eager to transition into residence life here at Carthage.

Main responsibilities at Carthage

Hall directors in the Office of Residential Life are responsible for overseeing the daily operations of their hall, including supervising the student staff, serving as a resource for students, and holding students accountable. Hall directors also serve as part of the College’s on-call team and respond to crises and policy violations across campus.

Favorite thing about working at Carthage

“I absolutely love the views of the lake all over campus. It is so refreshing to wake up in the morning and see the sun rising over the lake.”

Other interests?

“Coca-Cola, regular visits to the spa, scary movies, babysitting, and dog sitting.”
