Biography
Melissa has an honest, trauma-informed, and understanding approach when it comes to helping others. She believes that a strength-based, collaborative approach is the best way to build trust and accomplish goals.
Melissa earned a master’s degree in psychology from UW-Milwaukee and is a licensed clinical social worker and clinical substance abuse counselor. She previously worked as an outpatient therapist at a women’s outpatient substance use treatment facility in Milwaukee, and also at a private practice clinic in Oak Creek, Wis. She specializes in addiction, trauma, mood disorders, anxiety, stress management, domestic violence, post-traumatic stress disorder, sexual abuse, women issues, life transitions, relationship issues, loss and grief, and self-esteem issues. She utilizes skills from multiple treatment modalities, including Solution-Focused Therapy, Family-Systems, Motivational Interviewing, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy.
