Career goal
“After Carthage, I hope to find a position within business management that allows me to travel both within the states and internationally while also being able to apply my Spanish skills.”
Favorite class
“My favorite classes at Carthage have been the two Spanish classes I have taken in my time here. Both have been with Professor Caitlin Quintenz, and I really enjoy learning more about Spanish language and culture in her classes.”
Campus involvement
“I am involved in many clubs and organizations on campus. Last semester, I joined Mi Gente, the Pi Sigma Epsilon Business Fraternity, and Habitat for Humanity. I am involved in the same organizations this semester and joined the Book Club and Soccer Club on campus.”
Toughest class
“My toughest class at Carthage has been Ceramics, which I am taking this semester. It has been a lot of fun and a nice creative outlet; however, I am not very talented in the arts and have had to work harder to do well.”
Opportunities at Carthage
“I recently had the opportunity to study abroad in Belgium while taking an International Legal Environment and Business Course. Professor Michael Phegley led the study tour. While in Belgium, we traveled to other countries, including the Netherlands, Germany, and France. Overall, this opportunity was an amazing experience. I learned so much about Europe and European culture and am looking forward to traveling again soon!”
Scholarships
“I received the Modern Language Scholarship for Spanish. This scholarship has meant a lot to me and helped me afford a college education while studying a topic I am very passionate about.”
Favorite moments and memories at Carthage
“Favorite Carthage moments and memories include the late nights with friends spent studying or just hanging out on campus!”
Favorite spot on campus
“My favorite spot on campus changes from time to time. For studying, I love sitting in Straz by the windows that provide great lighting and a beautiful view of the lake. I also like to hang out in Einsteins with friends to study and socialize!”
Why should other students consider your major? What advice do you have for them?
“Although I am early on in my college career, I am confident that the skills I learn as a double major in marketing and Spanish will remain with me as I pursue a position with any company in the future.”
Why Carthage?
“I chose Carthage because of the small campus size, affordability, and the opportunities I have to travel during J-Term and semesters.”
