Career goal

“I want to be a physician’s assistant in surgery or primary care. I want to help make health care accessible.”

How have Carthage faculty had an impact on your life or Carthage career?

“The faculty here support me in different ways. When I was unsure about changing my major, they provided unbiased points of view and broadened my career idea horizon. They help connect me with people in those careers to talk and see what option would be the best fit for me.”

Favorite class

“My favorite class has been one of the history classes I’ve taken. I love studying history, and both professors I have had made the material exciting and embellished more information and facts than just the basic curriculum.”

Toughest class

“My toughest class has been Structural Kinesiology. It shows me which studying methods work best for me and pushes me to work harder than any other class I’ve taken.”

Internships or on-campus employment

“I’m a student ambassador in the Office of Admissions, and this job has helped develop my people skills, which I think will benefit me as I continue on the path of health care. I get to meet and talk with people from different walks of life and find things in common.”

Opportunities at Carthage

“Being at Carthage has given me different work opportunities because my schedule can be flexible. I have gotten off-campus jobs similar to my future profession, like working at an OB office. I get to try different opportunities to develop different passions I may have.”

Scholarships

“I did receive several scholarships and financial aid from Carthage. Receiving it has been so beneficial and allows me to pursue high education I may not have otherwise been able to.”

Favorite moments and memories at Carthage

“My favorite moments and memories here at Carthage are definitely all the themed Bingo games my friends and I go to. It’s a great atmosphere and never a dull experience.”

Favorite spot on campus

“My favorite spot on campus is a toss-up between the patio between Lentz and Straz or the beach behind the Tower. Both places are super serene and allow me to reflect and relax.”

Biggest surprise so far

“The biggest surprise so far is the connections I’m making here at Carthage. I have friends in different clubs, grades, and classes and from different walks of life. I am immersed in diversity and getting to experience so many different things.”

What would your 8-year-old self think of you now?

“My 8-year-old self would probably be surprised I don’t want to be a lawyer anymore. But I think she’d be proud I found somewhere I fit in and am doing what makes me happy.”

Why should other students consider your major? What advice do you have for them?

“The allied health science major allows many opportunities for health care professionals. It’s a diverse major with students who want to be chiropractors, PAs, athletic trainers, and more. It allows me to meet and have potential opportunities in all different fields.”
