During Zubia’s 16+ years as an educator and an instructional designer, one of the biggest changes she’s seen in education is the limitless amount of information available through technology. As an advocate of technology, she welcomes the opportunity to use the instantaneous availability of information to focus, redirect, motivate, and maintain the attention of her learners. In her instructional design process, she seamlessly integrates educational technology tools into lectures, which makes it easier for learners to retain information and remain engaged. Through instructional design, she strives to create a student-centered learning environment that propels learners forward. This helps engage and motivate learners, gets them involved, and encourages learner responsibility.
Additionally, she serves as both a coach and a cheerleader when it comes to motivating students to pursue their educational journey with zest and determination. She strives to keep the classroom fresh by trying new teaching strategies in both traditional and online classroom settings. She is in her element when she talks about new ideas; she brings enthusiasm and excitement into the classroom (through her design); and she is committed to inspiring learners to uncover their hidden potential.
