Biography

Jamie Lilburn joined the Center for Student Success team in August 2023 after completing her Master of Arts in Student Affairs Administration in Higher Education at Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana.

Originally from Janesville, Wisconsin, Jamie has always been passionate about education and expanding opportunities for higher-education students. While she originally attended UW-Madison to pursue a degree in secondary education, she transitioned to wanting to support college students in their progression toward degree completion. 

Jamie has previous experience working in college access at College Possible Milwaukee and the Office of Admissions and Recruitment at UW-Madison, as well in as career advising at Ball State. Jamie is excited to live out her passions and support Carthage students in their pursuit of a liberal arts education and their personal growth.

  • B.A. in History from the University of Wisconsin-Madison
  • M.A. in Student Affairs Administration in Higher Education; Certificate in Community College Leadership from Ball State University

Main responsibilities at Carthage

As a student success advisor, Jamie supports students through their unique college journey with targeted outreach and one-on-one appointments that cover topics such as time management, study skills, connecting to campus, transitioning to college, and personal well-being. Jamie also contributes to programming efforts through the Center for Student Success, particularly the Peer Coach Program as part of the College Success Seminar, for which she is also an instructor.”

Favorite thing about working at Carthage

“My favorite things about working at Carthage are the welcoming and supportive staff/faculty who are always willing to answer questions and the view of Lake Michigan from my office.”

Other interests?

“I am a huge fan of reality competition shows such as “Survivor,” “Big Brother,” and “The Challenge.” In the fall, I spend my weekends cheering on the Green Bay Packers and the Wisconsin Badgers, while in the spring/summer, I spend my time outside enjoying the sunshine any chance I get.”
