Marketing and Public Relations
Communication and Spanish
“My goal is to move out of the Midwest and join a marketing team within the music industry.”
How have Carthage faculty had an impact on your life or Carthage career?
“Prof. Phineas Marr has been one of the most influential and admirable teachers I have ever encountered. Through his religion courses, I have really opened my mind to other religions and have gained a greater respect for other beliefs.”
“My favorite class would have to be Understandings of Religion (REL 1000). Prof. Marr taught this class, and as a final project we got to make up a new religion.”
“I am part of the Student Alumni Association and am also an associate member of the Delta Upsilon fraternity. Thus far, I have really enjoyed getting to know the brothers better and following the mission of ‘building a better man.’”
“My toughest class was the first class that I had even taken. It was the Phage Hunters course when I was still a biology major.”
Internships or on-campus employment
“Yes, I currently am the marketing intern for a new app called, 1myVote that was developed by one of Carthage’s very own alums!”
Opportunities at Carthage
“Through the Carthage Symposium class called ‘The Sociological and Psychological Approach to Creativity and Music Improvisation,’ I was able to go back to my roots in music and explore creativity/improv. The class had to perform a showcase at the end of the class, and I wrote music and lyrics for an original composition and worked with two other students who sang the lyrics while I played piano.”
Favorite moments and memories at Carthage
Favorite spot on campus
“If I need to get away for a while, it is difficult because it’s such a big campus and I don’t have the ability to drive off campus. I spend a lot of time in the practice piano rooms working on my next original composition.”
Biggest surprise so far
“The biggest surprise so far is that everything has, in some way or form, worked out.”
What would your 8-year-old self think of you now?
“I don’t think my 8-year-old self would even recognize me in terms of where I am at in my studies and career path. I was always unsure about where my path was in the future.”
Why should other students consider your major? What advice do you have for them?
“Be open to any and all opportunities that may arise within this field because it may not exactly be what you are looking for, but it might turn into your new passion.”
