As an inside sales representative for the Washington Football Team, Emma Hryzan MSc ’21 is responsible for generating new business as it relates to ticket inventory, which includes contacting current and past customers and qualified sales leads to generate new sales.
Ms. Hryzan gained experience at Carthage while working as a graduate assistant coach for the women’s lacrosse team and working on campaigns presentable to experts in the professional sports industry.
“I chose Carthage because the sports management track is developed with insights from experts in the field. A program like that is very hard to find.”
What have you enjoyed most about your career?
“During my time working with the Washington Football Team, I have enjoyed the culture and people the most. Everyone wants to not only see you, but help you grow and succeed as well.”
How did Carthage prepare you?
“Throughout the sports management program, I have met and interacted with experts in the field. I had the opportunity to be involved in a social media campaign deliverable for a Chicago Fire FC account executive, a consulting deliverable for a Minnesota Wild board member, and a promotions campaign deliverable for the Minnesota Wild marketing manager. These have all been invaluable experiences that equipped me with the skills to apply concepts to the continually evolving landscape of the sports industry.”
What Carthage professors played a part in your success and how?
“Professor Greg Barron has had a significant impact on my success. From my first conversation with him, I knew he would be there for me and challenge me to step outside my comfort zone. Prof. Barron brought an energy and excitement to everything, which was contagious.”
Tips for current Carthage students:
“Find someone who challenges you. Having a conversation about your strengths and areas of improvement can be so impactful.”
