Major(s)

Music Theatre

“Carthage offers lots of opportunities for students who major in musical theater. We learn a lot from all those wonderful professors and our fellows. We not only learn knowledge, but we also learn how to be a professional actor and how to be a good person.”

Career goal

“I would like to continue to study musical theatre and complete my master’s program in the future.”

How have Carthage faculty had an impact on your life or Carthage career?

Professor Corinne Ness was the first professor I met. She means more than a professor to me. She gives me so much help and support, and suggestions to help me find myself. Even though I’m so far away from my home country, she makes me feel warm! I love her and appreciate her more than words can express!”

Favorite class

“I love Music Theater Workshop! The class is like participating in a laboratory. Students have lots of opportunities to learn and perform. It is a wonderful experience that gets you ready for the next level.”

Toughest class

“I think the acting courses were really hard for me. As an international student, English is not my first language. It is a big challenge for me to read and memorize all the script in English.”

Favorite moments and memories at Carthage

“I love every single show at Carthage! I love seeing my classmates perform or one of the props I helped make on the stage. That feeling is touching and impressive.”

Favorite spot on campus

“I love the Wartburg Theatre the most. It looks brand new with every show.”

Biggest surprise so far

“The time passes so fast!”

What would your 8-year-old self think of you now?

“When I was a little girl, I wanted to be a singer. I think she would be happy that I am pursuing my goal of being a performer.”

Why should other students consider your major? What advice do you have for them?

“I was told that majoring in performing arts is like taking a flight without knowing the destination. Between the reality and the dream, I chose the dream, and I do not regret it. I believe that life is not about finding answers; it’s about finding yourself and being yourself because there has never been a single standard answer that’s suitable for everyone. So be yourself, and do what you truly love!”
