“Narrowing down my interests and developing a career plan hasn’t been easy, but I’ve sought help from my academic advisor, my student success advisor, my career specialist, and many of my professors. Everyone has been kind, accommodating, and willing to offer advice. I’m thankful for the connections I’ve made at Carthage.”
“I loved my Principles of Computer Science I and II courses. They taught me the fundamentals of programming, from computational thinking to specific syntax. They also forced me to strengthen my time management skills — coding assignments can’t be done the night before they’re due!”

“I’ve always enjoyed working with technology and organizing information. I think my 8-year-old self would be thrilled that I found a way to build on those interests and shape them into a viable career.”

“Data science is a broad and burgeoning field! If you’re interested in technology or enjoy working with numbers, try taking a data science course to see if it’s a good fit for you. Even if you don’t make it your major, the skills you’ll develop will serve you well in any career.”
