Maggie Spanuello is a Chicago-based theatre director and choreographer and an Adjunct Instructor of Music Theatre at Carthage College. Maggie directs for the Music Theatre Workshop and teaches Music Theatre History and Writing Intensive courses.
Her international credits include NEXT TO NORMAL and SEUSSICAL, THE MUSICAL! (Shanghai Conservatory of Music). Among her regional credits are THE TEMPEST directed by Aaron Posner and Teller of Penn & Teller (Associate Director-Chicago Shakespeare Theatre, Smith Center; Las Vegas, South Coast Repertory), A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM (Chicago Civic Orchestra-Shakespeare 400-Festival) A CHIRSTMAS CAROL, GUTENBERG! THE MUSICAL!, FOREVER PLAID (Milwaukee Repertory Theatre), ARMS AND THE MAN (Ten Chimneys), COMPLETELY HOLLYWOOD (Old Creamery Theatre) and two seasons as the Artistic Director of Shawnee Summer Theatre. This season she will be directing GODSPELL with Carthage’s Music Theatre Workshop, 39 STEPS at BrightSide Theatre in Chicago, and she will be joining Posner and Teller as the Associate Director of MACBETH at Chicago Shakespeare Theatre.
Maggie received her MFA in directing from Western Illinois University and is a proud alumna of Carthage College where she earned her BA in music theatre and political science.
Magdalene Spanuello Ellsworth is a Chicago-based theatre director and adjunct faculty member at Carthage College. Her U.S. credits include works such as The Tempest directed by Aaron Posner and Teller of Penn & Teller (Smith Center; Las Vegas, A.R.T., South Coast Repertory), A Christmas Carol, Gutenberg! The Musical!, Forever Plaid (Milwaukee Repertory Theatre); Mary Dyer (Prologue Theatre Company, Chicago); and Arms and The Man (Ten Chimneys).
