    Rebekah Johnson serves as the Department Chair and as Assistant Professor in the Exercise and Sport Science Department. Her area of expertise is in Physical Education Teacher Education with a focus on Teacher Effectiveness. Rebekah is the advisor for all students pursuing licenses to teach health and physical education.



    Prof. Johnson began her education at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, where she obtained her Bachelor’s of Science in Education. With licenses to teach Physical Education, Health Education, and Adaptive Physical Education, she taught in the K-12 setting for seven years. During that time, she returned to UW-Whitewater to pursue her Master’s in Professional Development with an emphasis on Curriculum and Instruction.



    Prof. Johnson taught undergraduate courses for UW-Whitewater for two years in the Health, Physical Education, and Recreation Department before beginning her career at Carthage in 2016.

    

During her time at Carthage, Prof. Johnson has committed herself to preparing future physical education and health teachers for the demands of obtaining licensure and of the profession to follow. She has presented and designed coursework for the Teacher Performance Assessment (edTPA) and continues to mentor teacher candidates at Carthage College.
