The Carthage World Relief organization was started just a few years ago as a group designed to help raise funds and awareness for the biannual Nicaragua medical mission trip. The mission trip brings down thousands of dollars in medications and supplies to the needy people of Ometepe Island in Nicaragua. We found that hundreds of students who participated in the mission had their lives changes and wanted to continue their mission in helping the underserved communities; Carthage World Relief was designed for this purpose. Recently, the mission has expanded to building a clean water supply for inhabitants on the island as well as supporting a biological field station. Each year the organization raises around a thousand dollars and contributes a generous portion of the funds to these projects such as medicines, solar panels for the field station, and water basins and piping. So far the club has been very successful and has grown each year. We look forward to the future of the organization.
Every other Tuesday is Straz.
What are some of your org's major events and activities?
Each year the organization holds a benefit concert, where bands and student performers display their amazing musical talents in order to help fundraise for the Nicaragua trip. Their are raffles and prizes to be won as well as some great entertainment.
Why should people join this organization?
The mission of Carthage World Relief is about spreading awareness for global health disparity across the globe. We specifically focus on the Nicaragua medical mission, but hope our efforts raise awareness to underserved populations even in our local community. If you feel the desire to join our organization, you will be embarking on a great journey to help the lives of others!
