CARTHAGE COLLEGE FACULTY MEETING MINUTES
December 9, 2004
Dean Piepenburg called the meeting to order at 11:50 a.m.
Pastor Stephens delivered the invocation.
Minutes of the November 4, 2004 meeting were approved as written.
CONVERSATION WITH THE PRESIDENT
President Campbell reported and conversed with the faculty. Among other news, he announced two new and large contributions to the College endowment.
REPORTS OF COMMITTEES
Jim Lochtefeld, reporting for the Executive Committee, announced this year’s figure for student retention to be 76%. The Executive Committee is interested in bettering this and thinking equally about faculty retention plans to initiate a system of digital communication between faculty committees.
Roger Lindberg discussed strategies for handling the problem of sexual harassment.
Jim announced a series of faculty seminars about the legal responsibilities toward students.
Curriculum Planning Committee
Dan Schowalter presented various motions for faculty approval. Discussion of the motions ensued. All motions carried.
Heritage Oversight Committee
Temple Burling reported for the Heritage Oversight Committee.
There were various general announcements.
The meeting adjourned at 12:45 p.m.
