CARTHAGE COLLEGE FACULTY MEETING MINUTES
March 3, 2005
Dean Piepenburg called the meeting to order at 11:50 a.m.
Matt Zorn delivered the invocation.
Minutes of the February 10, 2005 meeting were approved as written.
CONVERSATION WITH THE PRESIDENT
President Campbell reported and conversed with the faculty. He announced that Gene Engeldinger is alumnus of the year for the School of Library and Information Studies at U.W. Madison. He also reported on the health of the budget, and next month’s breaking of ground for the new building project.
REPORTS OF COMMITTEES
Jim Lochtefeld reported for the Executive Committee. He discussed the approach to the writing of the new strategic plan. Most of the work will be done this summer.
Curriculum Planning Committee
Dan Schowalter reported for the CPC. Several new courses and amendments to established courses were proposed and discussed. All were approved. David Brunn reported on the state of the experimental JS program.
Greg Baer thanked the faculty for its participation in the Lincoln scholarship interviews.
Kevin Morris reported for the Quality of Life Committee.
Anne Shaw presented the results of the writing assessment survey. The average competency for students was slightly higher than in the last survey.
The meeting adjourned at 12:25 p.m.
