CARTHAGE COLLEGE FACULTY MEETING MINUTES
November 4, 2004
Dean Piepenburg called the meeting to order at 11:50 a.m.
Pastor Stephens delivered the invocation.
Minutes of the October 7, 2004 meeting were approved as written.
REPORTS OF COMMITTEES
Jim thanked the faculty for its support in his time of grief over the loss of his sister.
Fifty-three faculty responded to the written faculty survey.
Curriculum Planning Committee
CPC Motions: Dan Schowalter presented five topics courses for informational purposes. He presented a motion
to extend the period of experimentation on interdisciplinary curriculum for the Junior Symposium. Discussion of the motion ensued. Motion carried.
QUALITY OF LIFE
Kevin Morris announced that various Carthage students will be attending professional conferences.
ASSESSMENT AND ACCREDITATION
Christine Rener promised to post the re-accreditation report when it arrives. She pointed out where assessment data can be found among the Carthage web pages.
Tom Noer introduced this motion: “The faculty requests that the Board of Trustees rename the Distinguished Teacher of the Year Award as the Irene Kraemer Distinguished Teacher of the Year Award.” Discussion followed. By paper ballot, the motion carried.
There were various announcements.
