CARTHAGE COLLEGE FACULTY MEETING MINUTES
December 1, 2005
Dean Piepenburg called the meeting to order at 11:48 a.m.
Harvard Stephens delivered the invocation.
Minutes of the meetings of November 1 and November 3, 2005 were approved as written.
CONVERSATION WITH THE PRESIDENT
President Campbell announced to the faculty the College has hired, Matthew Tuttle as a full time debate coach as the College continues to develop “Centers of Excellence” as co-curricular and curricular activities.
REPORTS OF COMMITTEES
Matt Zorn announced that the FEC established a new “Writing Across the Curriculum” Committee to implement that portion of the Strategic Initiative.
Curriculum Planning Committee
Rick Matthews, for the CPC, announced that a number of additional Carthage Symposia, especially for Spring 2007, are needed.
The CPC moved revisions to the Music Department Major. The motion passed.
The CPC moved approval of two new Humanities/Social Science courses. The motion passed.
For Information Purposes Only, the CPC presented a list of topics course which had been approved.
Tom Noer spoke regarding recent decisions on the College nickname.
Isabel Rivera announced that the International Friendship Society and the Economics Department are co-sponsoring a fund raising dinner to purchase supplies for the upcoming J-Term trip to Africa.
