The Brainard Writing Center is a free resource available to all members of the Carthage community. Whether you need help choosing a topic, formulating a thesis statement, organizing your thoughts, or polishing your final draft, the Writing Center is here to help.

“You do not need a draft of a paper to come to the Writing Center for help. We are happy to work with you to understand your assignment prompt or brainstorm ideas.” — Heather Caroll, Writing Center Director

Located on the upper level of Hedberg Library, the Writing Center is staffed by undergraduate Writing Fellows whose initial semester-long training program is modeled on the training recommendations of the College Reading and Learning Association. These fellows represent a wide range of disciplines across the college and assist students from all majors with their writing projects.

While students may drop in, appointments are strongly recommended, especially during midterms and toward the end of the semester. Students may schedule a single one-hour session or regular weekly or bi-weekly sessions.
