Deonte Warren M.M. '21 will perform his graduate recital April 28. Deonté L. Warren M.M. ’21, adjunct faculty of music theatre, will perform his graduate recital “From Broadway, With Love” at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 28, in the Campbell Student Union Auditorium. Tickets are required. External patrons are welcome to join us from home through our livestream.

Deonté will perform Sean P. Pallatroni’s arrangements of various songs in “From Broadway, With Love” including “Rhythm of Love” by Anita Baker, “Everybody Says Don’t” from “Anyone Can Whistle” by Stephen Sondheim, and “Sit Down You’re Rockin the Boat” by Frank Loesser. Deonté will also perform “I Am Light” by INDIA.ARIE, Reagan Casteel’s arrangement of “Gimme Gimme” from “Thoroughly Modern Millie,” and more. Linda Madonia will music direct the nine-piece instrumental ensemble that will accompany Deonté throughout his recital.

Deonté is currently a candidate for his Master of Music in Music Theatre Vocal Pedagogy (2021) at Carthage, where he is also an adjunct professor of musical theatre. In addition to a robust private studio, working with singers of all levels from beginners to Broadway performers, he is also a senior voice Instructor for The Voice Lab, Inc. based out of Chicago. There, Deonté works with The Voice Lab in their goal to provide transgender and gender nonconforming voice users of all types “a safe, affirming, and creative space to explore gender and voice and develop new techniques to help express yourself authentically.” As a performer, Deonté has most recently been seen on Broadway in Disney’s “Aladdin.” He has also performed internationally on cruise ships and on the National/International Tours of “Sister Act and “Dreamgirls.” His debut album “Love Essential (Live in New York) can be found everywhere music is streamed and sold. Learn more about Deonté

Ticket procedures for Fine Arts events

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Carthage Fine Arts has changed how patrons obtain tickets. All May Term events remain free, but tickets are now required in advance.

  • For the May Term 2021, it is encouraged to obtain your tickets online 24/7: www.carthage.edu/tickets. Online ticket fees have been waived for May Term 2021.
  • Tickets are also available at the Fine Arts Box Office from noon to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Friday, in the Straz Center.
  • At events, there will be no walk-up ticket option, will call, or cash sales. Please use the online link to get tickets.
  • Masks are required to enter the building even if you have been vaccinated. If you arrive without a mask, you can purchase one before entering the building for $5 via credit card.
  • Seating will be reserved to ensure social distancing. Seating is limited. Patrons with special needs should notify the Box Office when getting tickets, so the proper arrangements can be made.
  • There is no intermission or late seating for events. Please give yourself plenty of time to get to your seat, and we will ask everyone to go to their seats immediately when they arrive.
